Important pledges were made at COP26 to end deforestation, phase out coal, cut methane emissions, increase climate financing and more. Sticking points in international agreements, notably Article 6 and the issue of double-counting carbon credits traded across borders, were also resolved.
However, beyond pledges and commitments, we also need to accelerate real actions now to achieve net zero by 2050. Keeping global warming to 1.5oC will help us avoid the worst effects of climate change, but the window is narrowing. With economies recovering and global growth picking up, we need to decouple economic growth from emissions - and fast.
Themed “Accelerating Action at Scale”, Ecosperity Week 2022 will gather global business leaders, policymakers, investors and civil society from Asia and beyond to deep-dive into real solutions and key levers to accelerate the energy revolution, decarbonise transport and heavy industries, and finance Asia’s green transition.
Discussions on financing Asia’s green transition will be anchored by the second edition of the Singapore Sustainable Investing & Financing Conference (SSIFC) on 9 June 2022. SSIFC is co-organised by BlackRock, the International Finance Corporation and Temasek.
Ecosperity Week 2022 will also feature a line-up of sustainability focused roundtables, workshops and pitch sessions such as the CIX Connects panel and networking session by Climate Impact X, Global Compact Network Singapore CEO Roundtable, Stewardship Commons and The Liveability Challenge. In 2021, we rallied global leaders in the private and public sectors for the first-ever hybrid Ecosperity Week on 28-30 September 2021, which included the inaugural Singapore Sustainable Investing & Financing Conference.
Themed “Tomorrow Starts Today: From Crisis to Opportunity”, the conference focused on opportunities in decarbonisation solutions, nature-based climate solutions, and tools that can help divert capital to address the climate crisis.
