Dr Toni Lee is the Director of Enzymology at Solugen, where she manages in-house enzyme discovery and engineering. She also oversees techno-economic feasibility studies for chemical processes related to generating oxidized products, including sugar and other alcohol compounds. Her novel ideas have led to more than 14 patent filings at Solugen in two years. Before joining Solugen, Lee worked as a Principal Scientist at Provivi, an agricultural semiochemical startup founded by 2018 Nobel Prize winner Frances Arnold.

Toni holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the California Institute of Technology and a BS/MS in Anthropology and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She currently lives in Houston with her husband, daughter, and cat. Outside of work, she can be found exploring nature, enjoying and playing music, and traveling with her family.
